St. Dismas Archives
At the Church of the Good Thief
Located in the historic 19th-century Roman Catholic church in Portsmouth village, the St. Dismas Archives will preserve and provide access to the documentary heritage of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kingston, the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph, the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul and other partners. It will be the central archival facility for the Archdiocese and will serve the needs of the Archdiocese and its partners now and into the future while maintaining and respecting the Church of the Good Thief and its place within the community.
The project will ensure the physical structure of the church is stabilized and give the site a new life within the community.
The professionally managed archival program will operate in a state-of-the-art archival facility, housed within an iconic building, and serve as a research centre allowing access to records of great historical value.
